The public services portal makes it possible to obtain a TIN via the Internet if a citizen is registered on this site and has been authorized.

In other words, before ordering a TIN via the Internet, you need to register. To register, you must provide passport data, phone number, email. Authorization is a more complex process. It involves filling out a questionnaire, indicating the TIN and SNILS. Then you will have to wait for a response from the system: the password will be sent by Russian Post to your address at the place of residence.

Now you can open your personal account on the website gosuslugi.ru. As a login to the password sent by mail, you can use the e-mail specified in the questionnaire, SNILS or TIN.

To order a primary TIN certificate, which is issued free of charge, it is enough to fill out an application in the form of the Federal Tax Service on the Public Services Portal.

You can find the required form by using the search or by viewing the list of electronic services of the tax office. The correct name of the service is “Registration of an individual who is not an individual entrepreneur with the tax authority on the basis of an application”.

Then the finished TIN certificate can be picked up at the inspectorate at the place of residence by presenting a passport. Another person will be able to pick up the applicant's TIN certificate only with a notarized power of attorney.

Unfortunately, it will not be possible to obtain a TIN through the State Services if a re-issuance of a certificate is required to replace the lost one. It is paid by the state duty and is made only after a personal or written (by Russian Post) application to the territorial inspection.

How to get a TIN online?

There is an even simpler way to obtain a TIN via the Internet: both the order and the receipt of a certificate are made on the Public Services Portal using an electronic digital signature (EDS or ES).

EDS for the Public Services Portal will work only with this resource. It cannot be used on other resources, even official ones, or for signing your personal documents and emails.

EDS is ordered from accredited certification centers. Rostelecom became the "first sign" in the field of issuing a signature for gosuslugi.ru. Today there are more such centers. The current list of certification centers can be found on the website of the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications.

Today, the EDS key is a USB device. But work is underway to introduce an electronic signature into the SIM cards of mobile phones (such statements were made by Rostelecom and the Big Three mobile operators).

When applying for a key to an electronic signature, you must have with you:

  • passport;
  • TIN number (if you have not received a certificate, this does not mean the absence of the number itself, you can find it on the website of the Federal Tax Service) (see:);
  • SNILS.

In the certification center, you will have to sign several documents (consent to the processing of personal data, an agreement with the certification center, an application for obtaining a signature key) and wait until the specialist uploads the passport data into the system.

EDS is paid at the time of receipt. The price depends on the certification authority. If Rostelecom offers a token with an electronic signature for about 700 rubles, then some companies that complete equipment with additional software ask for around 1,500 rubles.

The key is installed in the USB device immediately after the citizen submits an application and signs the consent to work with personal data. The token will have a default password (1234567890), which the user must change on their own.

Unfortunately, the equipment for the Public Services Portal works mainly with operating systems of the Windows family. It will most likely not run on Linux.

By itself, installing an EDS is not difficult: you need to go to the Public Services Portal and select "Authorization by EDS" in the login menu for your personal account. Then everything will be done by the Installation Wizard of the Plugin of the user of the Public Services Portal. By clicking on the "Next" button several times and reloading the browser, you can enter your personal account on the Public Services Portal using a newly acquired digital signature.

If the application is signed in electronic form with an EDS, then the receipt of the TIN via the Internet will take place from beginning to end, you will not need to go to the inspection at all. You can request it by mail to your home address or even by e-mail (or download from the site). In the latter case, the applicant will be sent a PDF file, which is an image of a printed certificate, digitally signed by an authorized tax specialist.

What are the advantages of using an EDS to obtain a TIN?

Of course, an electronic signature is not free and its acquisition requires some effort, but it pays off with the following benefits:

  • you don’t have to wait 2 weeks until the password for your personal account arrives by mail;
  • there is no need to enter a password and login - just insert the token with the signature into the USB port of the computer;
  • TIN through the State Services can not only be ordered, but also received without leaving home (by e-mail or by Russian Post).

Thus, the existing system for obtaining and issuing a TIN via the Internet on the Public Services Portal allows you to apply for tax registration, and if you have an EDS, even receive a certificate by Russian Post or in electronic form. Moreover, authorization (using a password or an electronic key - anyway) gives access to many other useful services provided by government agencies via the Internet.

How can I see my tax number online?

Even if the taxpayer has not personally submitted an application to the Federal Tax Service for the assignment of a unique code, this does not mean at all that he does not have one yet. There is a high probability that it has already been assigned if personal data was transferred to the tax authorities by government agencies or notaries when processing transactions, acquiring property, obtaining documents from the registry office, social benefits, employment, etc.

Note: the identification number assigned to an individual consists of 12 digits. This code is necessary for the government to control the payment of taxes by citizens. The numbers that make up the code are chosen involuntarily. The first two digits indicate the region of the country, the next two indicate the number of the branch of the authority that issued the document. The following are six more digits that are unique for each citizen within a particular branch of the Federal Tax Service. The last two digits are verification.

The ability to check the identification code is also available on the State Services portal. Unfortunately, such a function as printing the TIN from the State Services website is also not provided, the combination just needs to be rewritten manually. To view it, you need:

  • open the main page of the portal;
  • go to the Service Catalog;
  • select the category Taxes and finances;
  • select the desired service in the section;
  • log in to the State Services Portal;
  • enter personal data.

By the way, here you can print tax receipts by TIN. To do this, after the 12-digit code becomes known, you must click on the Tax Debt button.

After passing the authorization, you will be asked to fill out an electronic application, in which a twelve-digit combination is prescribed. It is easy to find out and, if necessary, print the TIN via the Internet. But for many, the question remains whether it is possible to apply for an identification number without a personal visit to the Federal Tax Service. You can do this remotely.

How to issue a document in paper and electronic form?
