2000 rubles - a new banknote of 2017 of the Bank of Russia

On October 12, 2017, the Bank of Russia put into circulation a banknote with a face value of 2000 rubles. This is a new banknote, the symbols for which were chosen based on the results of an all-Russian vote back in 2016. The banknote uses an improved security system and high-relief elements for visually impaired citizens, and also takes into account modern design trends.

A denomination of 2000 rubles is introduced to simplify the calculations of buyers. The bill began to enter circulation from October 12, 2017, as the regions prepare to work with it. As the Chairman of the Bank of Russia E. Nabiullina said, the first banknote was received by the region, which is depicted on it and Moscow, and then the banknote will be introduced in stages.
Prime quoted the Chairman of the Bank of Russia, who said the following about the timing of the introduction of banknotes into circulation:

“We expect that the new mass introduction of banknotes will begin in December, when both banks and enterprises have completed preparations.”

Banknote size 2000 rubles

For new banknotes introduced into circulation, their size is always approved. The size of the banknote of the Bank of Russia with a face value of 2000 rubles is 157 x 69 mm. It corresponds to the size of all banknotes of the line of large denominations (1000 and 5000 rubles) of the Bank of Russia.

The predominant color of the 2000-ruble banknote is blue. The banknote is made on white cotton paper. Security fibers of two types are embedded in the paper - colored fibers with alternating sections of red and blue colors and gray fibers.

The main design of the banknote 2000 rubles- these are symbols of the Far East, namely:

  • on the front side - Russian Bridge - a cable-stayed bridge in Vladivostok, connecting Russky Island with the mainland of Vladivostok. At the top left is the coat of arms of the Russian Federation;
  • on the reverse side - the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region. In the upper right part of the banknote there is the inscription "2017" - which indicates the year of issue of this banknote sample.
Diving holographic security thread 5 mm wide comes to the surface from the front side of the banknote in the windows of figured shape.

Distinctive features in the design of the denomination of 2000 rubles, which were expressed as follows:

  1. The denomination figures of the two thousandth banknote are larger than on other denominations of the banknote series of the Bank of Russia and have a noticeable relief. This was done specifically for visually impaired people for easier denomination recognition.
  2. For the first time, the coat of arms of the Russian Federation was placed on the banknote of 2000 rubles, and not the emblem of the Bank of Russia, which is reflected on all issues of previous banknotes.
  3. There is a symbol of the ruble on the banknote - ₽ The symbol of the ruble appears in several places on the banknote 2000 - on a security thread, a latent image with the KIPP effect, an image in the UV range of the spectrum.
  4. The serial number is indicated on the reverse side of the banknote, and not on the front side, as it is on other banknotes of the Bank of Russia. The serial number 2000 of the banknote is located in two places and consists of a two-letter designation of the series and nine digits of the number. The left number has readability on the short side of the banknote, the right one - on the long side. The serial number, located on the left side, is located vertically, which was previously found only on the last two 100 ruble bills.
  5. In the lower right part of the front side of the banknote there is a QR code containing a link to the page of the Bank of Russia website with a description of the security features of the banknote.

Security features of the authenticity of banknotes of 2000 rubles of the Bank of Russia

In the banknote of 2000 rubles, the Bank of Russia has introduced 7 types of verification of signs of authenticity. To quickly verify the authenticity of a bill, it is worth remembering and using at least 3-4 signs.

  • Signs of authenticity controlled through the light:

    front side

    1. Security thread When viewed against the light, the security thread that has exits to the surface of the banknote looks like a dark stripe with light repeating inscriptions "Central Bank of the Russian Federation" made by microdemetallization.
    2. Multitone Combined Watermark It is located on a light field in the right part of the banknote, it is observed through the light. The multi-tone combined watermark (a bridge against the background of the sun and the number "2000") is made with smooth transitions from light to dark areas in combination with contrasting light areas.
  • Signs of authenticity controlled using x8-x10 magnifier:

    1. microtext At the bottom of the image of the Far Eastern Federal University is a positive microtext consisting of the repeated word "VLADIVOSTOK".
    2. microtext Positive and negative microtext consisting of the repeated word "VLADIVOSTOK" is located respectively along the upper and lower edges of the border containing the numerical designation of the denomination.
    3. microtext Horizontally at the bottom of the banknote there is a positive microtext consisting of the repeated number "2000" and the word "RUBLE".
    4. microtext

    1. microtext At the top and bottom of the banknote there is a negative microtext consisting of the repeated words "BANKROSS".
    2. microtext At the bottom of the image of the cosmodrome there is a negative microtext, consisting of the repeated words "COSMODROME VOSTOCHNY".
    3. The background image consists of small space-themed graphic elements.
    4. Images formed by small graphic elements The stylized image of the map of the Far East is formed by separate repetitive small graphic elements (the number "2000" and microimages of representatives of the flora and fauna of the Far East).
  • Signs of authenticity controlled by changing the angle of view:

    1. Color changing element (hidden numbers) On a one-color field containing the word "RUSSIA", when observed at an acute angle to the surface of the banknote, the number "2000" appears, each digit of which has its own color. When turning the banknote 180? (without changing the angle of view) the color of each number changes.
    2. Hidden image of the ruble symbol (KIPP effect) When examining the banknote at an acute angle, the symbol of the ruble is visible. Depending on the position of the banknote, the ruble symbol looks light on a dark background or dark on a light background.
    3. Security thread When the banknote is swayed away from/toward itself on the security thread in the figured window, the denomination digits move to the right and left relative to each other. At an acute viewing angle, repeated color images of the ruble symbol are visualized on a rainbow background. The 3D image of the ruble symbol is constantly observed between the images of the face value.
    4. Optical-variable element (moving ring) When the banknote is swayed, a moving bright shiny ring is observed on the stylized image of the sun.
  • Signs of authenticity controlled by touch (raised relief):

Attention! Additional information about the banknote 2000 rubles

In connection with the introduction into circulation in the Russian Federation from October 12, 2017, banknotes of the Bank of Russia with a face value of 2000 rubles of the sample of 2017 unusual blue color there is an additional need to inform the public that:
  1. A banknote with a face value of 2000 rubles is required to be accepted when making all types of payments, for crediting to accounts, deposits and for transfers throughout the Russian Federation. Refusal to accept the specified banknote is illegal.
  2. A denomination of 2000 rubles is not a commemorative note, its circulation is not limited. It will be issued in accordance with the needs of cash circulation, like other banknotes. Therefore, it is not advisable to purchase it at a price higher than the face value.
  3. JSC Goznak has released a mobile application for checking the banknote of 2000 rubles. The mobile application is called "Banknotes 2017" and contains information about the design and characteristics of banknotes, and also checks their authenticity.

The history of the creation of the banknote 2000 rubles

The purpose of introducing a new 2,000 ruble banknote by the Bank of Russia is to simplify citizens' payments for goods and services, to reduce the number of thousandth banknotes in circulation ... The issue of 2,000 ruble banknotes is not limited, i.e. their release will be determined by need.

The symbols for the new banknotes were chosen during a competition in 2016. Out of more than 5,000 applications, the interim list of the competition included 76 proposals with various attractions from 49 regions. Based on the results of the All-Russian sociological survey, 10 finalists were selected from this list. At the last stage of the competition, by voting throughout the country, in which more than 3 million people took part, the winners were determined - the symbols of the Far East and Sevastopol. The results of the competition were announced on October 7, 2016 live on the Russia 1 TV channel.

At the same time, the Bank of Russia informed that the Board of Directors of the Central Bank would determine which of the two symbols - the winners of the competition - would be depicted on a banknote of 200 rubles, and which - on a banknote of 2000 rubles.

What can determine the price of an ordinary modern banknote. Which ones are rare and expensive? For which banknotes are collectors willing to pay dozens of times more than indicated in the denomination figure? To answer these questions, consider the main points that affect the value of banknotes.

5 rubles of 1997, although officially not withdrawn from circulation, are no longer found. Cost - 600 rubles

Rare denominations of Russian banknotes

With denominations, everything is simple, you just need to know that 5 ruble banknotes were no longer printed back in 1999. Therefore, at present they are practically not found, although officially they are considered a valid means of payment. The collection price of five-ruble banknotes in good condition is 250 rubles. And in exceptional safety, without the slightest trace of circulation and any, even the weakest excesses (this degree of safety of banknotes is called "press") more than 500 rubles.

2. Modifications of modern banknotes, their impact on the price

An important point that you need to pay attention to when determining the value of a banknote is the date of "modification", it is indicated in the lower left corner (see picture).

What does she mean? As we can see, the design of Russian banknotes, at its core, has remained unchanged since 1997. But, in order to increase wear resistance and improve the protective properties, some changes are periodically made to banknotes. Accordingly, their appearance changes. For cash payments, this is not important, but for collectors, these are completely new banknotes, some of them can be very rare and expensive.

In 2001, the first modification of all issued banknotes was made. As a result of improving the means of protection, the banknotes acquired luminescent properties - the numbers denoting the denomination in the lower left corner began to have a yellow-green glow in ultraviolet rays. To distinguish the updated banknotes, in their lower left part, on the front side, a small text “modification - 2001” was applied. - with the height of letters and numbers of the text less than half a millimeter.

Place of application of the inscription "modification" in 2001, 2004 and 2010.

In 2004, the second change in the properties of banknotes was carried out. Almost all 10, 50 and 100 ruble bills currently in circulation are of this particular modification. One of the main innovations was the appearance in banknotes of a metalized diving security thread, 2 mm wide. On the reverse side of banknotes, this thread comes to the surface in five visible sections. Also, security fibers were introduced into the new banknotes: gray, red, light green and two-color, which glow in ultraviolet light. The denoting text began to look like "modification 2004"

In 2010, there was a modification of banknotes with denominations of 500, 1000 rubles and a new banknote of 5000 rubles, issued since 2006. Banknotes of this modification contain a special set of machine-readable security features designed for authentication, which can be read using automatic devices.

Visual differences (fragment) of the banknote of 500 rubles: issue 1997, modifications 2001, 2004 and 2010

Prices for banknotes of 1997 sample (by modifications)

\ 5 rub 10 rub 50 rub 100 rub 500 rub 1000 rub
without inscription 250 350 1000 1000 1500 1500
2001 --- 200 800 800 1000 ---
2004 --- 10 50 100 550 1050
2010 --- --- --- --- 500 1000

The table shows the price for banknotes in good condition from circulation. For banknotes in “press” condition, without the smallest blots and bends, it is about 2-3 times higher. As you can see, depending on the time of issue of the banknote, i.e. modifications, the price of even modern money in circulation can be ten times higher than the face value. So, having found a long-term "stash", do not rush to take it to the store, first check the small text - "modification". And it’s very good, if it’s not there at all, then you have a rare and rather expensive bill in your hands (still without modifications), which can be profitably sold to collectors.

Remark: All of the above can be reduced to one, albeit simplified, but easy to remember feature - banknotes without a visible protective tape are much more expensive than the face value. Banknotes with denominations from 5 to 100 rubles are at least ten times, and higher denominations are on average twice.

3. The most expensive Russian banknotes by letter series

Each bill has an individual number, and every 10 million has its own series. The series is indicated by two letters in front of the seven-digit bill number. There are three points that affect pricing.

First- series with letters AA. This combination of letters is affixed to banknotes at the very beginning of their production. Banknotes with the letter AA, that is, those that were printed at the very beginning of the issue of a new banknote, are more attractive to collectors. Their cost can be three times more (minus face value) than in the table above. A very rare and in demand banknote of 500 rubles modification of the 2001 series aa, its price is more - 3000 rubles.

Series banknotes - AA.

Second- special series, which are assigned to experimental banknotes periodically issued by the Goznak factory. This happens when they decide to test a new paper or ink to improve the durability of banknotes. Experimental banknotes are “marked” with a special series and put into circulation in one region. After six months or a year of being in circulation, they are withdrawn (using identification by series) and the effectiveness of the new technological solution used in the production of banknotes is analyzed.

The first such prototypes issued for circulation were 50 rubles with the AB series and 100 rubles of the AL series of the 2001 modification. They were printed on experimental paper and covered with a special water-repellent varnish. Now the collection value of each of these banknotes, which have not been returned to the laboratory of Goznak, is more than 4,000 rubles in good condition. Moderately shabby, they are valued at 1500 rubles.

Experimental banknotes: 50 rubles of the AB series and 100 rubles of the AL series. The cost is 3000 rubles.

We are not even talking about the assessment in the “press” state, since, to collectors, all of them have already come from circulation and are practically never found in perfect condition. Due to the lack of information, huckster dealers simply did not have time to “intercept” them at the right time and in the right place.

It is also known about the issue of 100 rubles with the AB series, but these banknotes are extremely rare. It can be assumed that in the event of a sale, their cost will be several tens of thousands of rubles.

The second experimental batch of experimental banknotes was issued for test circulation in 2006. This is 10 rubles of the 2004 modification with the FF and CC series. New paper was tested on the FF series of ten-ruble banknotes, and paint was tested on the CC series. Today these banknotes are very rare. The cost of dozens that have been in circulation, with FF 1500 rubles, with CC 1200 rubles.

Experimental banknote: 10 rubles of the CC series, + a fragment of a banknote with the number FF. The cost is 1200 - 1500 rubles.

To test the varnish coating, banknotes of 100 rubles of the modification of 2004, series UU, FF and TsTs, were intended. On banknotes with a series of UU and FF, different paper and varnish were used, CC - were printed on standard paper and served as a standard, a reference point, in determining the degree of dilapidation of the withdrawn banknotes. The cost of all these banknotes is approximately the same and much higher than the face value: 300 rubles if the banknote is out of circulation and 600 if the “press” is intact.

The benefits of such experiments are obvious. The average life expectancy of a hundred-ruble woman, in recent years, has increased one and a half to two times. Today, protected by watermarks, metallized thread and special marks, 100-ruble banknotes become unusable in only 1.5 - 2 years. Some paper money lives longer, some less. Banknotes with a face value of 10 rubles. wear out in just six to eight months, 1000-ruble bills - in two and a half years, five-thousandth - in four and a half.

Experimental banknote: 100 rubles of the UU series + banknote fragments with numbers FF and CC. The cost is 600 rubles.

The fourth experiment, “for dilapidation,” began to be carried out in August 2016, also on 100 ruble banknotes. The goal is still the same - testing the lacquer coating, obviously, to prepare for the release of new denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles. This time, the banknotes were “marked” with 11 different series, they all have in common that they all begin with a large letter “U” - UA, UB, UE, UK, UL, UN, US, UX, UCH, Ub, UO. All of them are divided into 5 experimental batches with numbers from 1 to 4 (the batch number is the first digit in the seven-digit numbering of the banknote) and the fifth “K”. The higher the experience number, the thicker the lacquer coating applied to the banknote. Collectors who have them note that batches number 3 and 4 are characterized by a stronger smell of paint, and in batch “K” banknotes are matte, that is, without a varnish coating (K is control). This time the dealers prepared well. And from banks such banknotes are immediately withdrawn by them with bricks. In the jargon of numismatists, a “brick” is a plastic Goznakov package containing 10 packs, i.e. 1000 banknotes. Then they diverge in "roots" (packs of 100 bills) to smaller dealers; and from them already - to "simple" collectors, at retail, at a price of 130 - 150 rubles, the state is naturally only "press". There is no time for Goznak's experiments, so to speak, "Nothing personal - just business."

Experimental banknotes of 2016. The cost is 130 rubles.

Third- substitution series. The next reason for the appearance of banknotes with rare (expensive) series is the so-called substitution series. In Russia, they first appeared during the manufacture of Sochi 2014 commemorative banknotes and have the letters Ah(namely, “A” is large and after it “a” is small). Their circulation is about 100 - 150 times less than the main one and they are intended to replace rejected banknotes in bundles of the main issue. The cost of such banknotes is 250 rubles.

In the manufacture of Crimean banknotes, “substitutes” needed less and such banknotes (series - ks) are already significantly more expensive - up to 400 rubles.

4. Banknote number - its impact on the price of a banknote

And finally, the fourth thing you need to pay attention to when revealing banknotes much more expensive than the face value in your pocket is a beautiful number. The most exclusive is when all seven digits of the number are the same 2222222 or 8888888, the cost of such banknotes is three to five thousand more than the face value. The next "by beauty" are banknotes with numbers in a row 1234567 or in the opposite direction 8765432. Their price is already lower, but still, a thousand rubles is added to the face value. The so-called radars are also in demand; numbers that read the same way from left to right and from right to left - 1239321 or 3451543, or in the opposite direction - radar detectors 7654567, etc. (True, we are talking here about “only” a few hundred rubles, by which the value of the banknote increases).

Banknotes with "beautiful numbers" of the same numbers. The cost is more than 3000 rubles.

But the most expensive banknotes with numbers (as elsewhere in life) are 0000001; any banknote with number 0000001 can be sold for more than 25,000 rubles. So do not forget to check your change, maybe it is you who will be lucky and get a chance to improve your financial situation by simply looking into your wallet.

Banknote with a unique number 0000001. The cost of any denomination, any series is more than 25,000 rubles.

In conclusion. Oddly enough, but banknotes sometimes get into circulation - “samples” printed for official use and not intended for monetary circulation. In digital numbering they have only zeros. The cost of such rarities is about 40 thousand rubles.

GOOD LUCK everyone, look into your wallets and piggy banks more often: maybe you are lucky, and there is a banknote with a rare modification, an "amazing" series or a beautiful number that you want to keep as a keepsake or sell.

Mistakenly put into circulation banknotes with numbers for official use. The cost is 40 thousand rubles.

From Thursday they are legal tender. Moscow was the first to receive them, as well as the Crimea and the Far East that "got on the money".

The mass introduction of banknotes into circulation will begin in December, when the setup of cash equipment and ATMs for "live" money is completed, said Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. Until today, they were tuned according to test samples. The design and security features of the new banknotes were kept strictly secret until the last minute to protect against counterfeiters. It will take them a long time to master the counterfeiting of new banknotes at a "worthy" level.

In the manufacture of banknotes, the latest solutions were applied, said Arkady Trachuk, General Director of Goznak. The canvas of the 200-ruble banknote, which is destined to change hands frequently, is additionally impregnated with a polymer. This will increase its service life by one and a half times. The image of the ruble symbol on new banknotes appears in several places: on a security thread, in microimages. Banknotes have a QR code, which can be used to go to the page of the Central Bank website with information about all security features.

The design of the banknotes is unusual and bright. Each received "its own" color scheme, the denomination figures are larger than on other banknotes, and have a noticeable relief - all this will help people with impaired vision. On the front side of the 200-ruble banknote - the Monument to the Scuttled Ships in Sevastopol, on its back - a view of Chersonese Tauride, on the banknote of 2000 rubles, respectively, the bridge to Russky Island and the Vostochny Cosmodrome are depicted.

The introduction of new security features may lead to a change in the design of other banknotes already in 2018

The new money will make cash payments more convenient and will push out banknotes of adjacent denominations (100 and 1000 rubles). So, earlier, at least nine banknotes were needed to pay 4900 rubles (four 1000 rubles each, a 500-ruble banknote and four 100-ruble notes), now only five (two 2000 rubles each, 500-ruble and two 200-ruble notes), gave the example of Elvira Nabiullina. At the same time, the Bank of Russia itself will not make special decisions to reduce the share of certain banknotes in circulation, everything depends on their demand among people, Nabiullina emphasized.

The new banknotes will feature the Russian State Emblem, rather than the emblem of the Bank of Russia, which is very similar to the image used on its seal by the Provisional Government in 1917. This is also a double-headed eagle, but devoid of crowns, a scepter, orb and a shield with George the Victorious. The Bank of Russia began to mint such an emblem on coins in 1992, when the coat of arms of the Russian Federation had not yet been approved, and since 1995 it has also been used on banknotes. For the first time, the State Emblem of the Russian Federation appeared on commemorative coins issued for the Sochi 2014 Olympics.

The developments that Goznak applied in new banknotes will be used in the modernization of other banknotes. Its term is just right - it is usually produced every 5-7 years, and the current banknotes are a modification of 2010. At the same time, such modernization may be accompanied by a change in design. Arkady Trachuk believes that the time has come for this - the concept of the appearance of ruble banknotes, in fact, has not changed since 1995, views on the design of money have changed a lot since then.

Despite global trends, in the coming years, the ticket canvas of the Bank of Russia will remain paper. Plastic banknotes are more durable, but also more expensive to manufacture. In addition, in terms of anti-counterfeiting capabilities, "plastic" loses to paper, so in the world it is mainly used for low-denomination banknotes, Arkady Trachuk explained. Finally, the introduction of plastic banknotes will require a complete reconfiguration of ATMs and cash registers.

It is planned to make a commemorative 100-ruble banknote in honor of the 2018 FIFA World Cup entirely from a new material - on a plastic substrate. It will go into circulation in the first half of next year. The last time the nominal range of banknotes was replenished was in 2006, when five thousandth banknotes were introduced. At the moment, the modernization of the nominal series is over, banknotes of new denominations are not planned, Elvira Nabiullina said.

The Bank of Russia will not yet withdraw from circulation coins of denominations of 1 and 5 kopecks, even though they are very little used, the head of the Central Bank said in response to a question from Rossiyskaya Gazeta. At the same time, she admitted that the issue of withdrawing coins of small denominations from circulation constantly arises in the Bank of Russia. "As long as our prices are set in kopecks, we are obliged to provide stores with change in kopecks," Elvira Nabiullina noted.

In October 2017, new banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles began to appear in money circulation in Russia. The country began preparing for this event back in 2016: in the middle of summer, an all-Russian competition for the future design of banknotes was announced with an open vote, which took place in three stages. The Russians were able to choose the sights of which region will be honored to decorate the new banknotes. From hundreds of options, it was proposed to choose two. The winners were two regions - the Far East and Sevastopol.

The release date of banknotes in denominations of 200 and 2000 rubles is October 12, 2017. At the same time, the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Nabiullina, said that new money would be released into mass circulation in December 2017. Residents of the winning regions, as well as Moscow, were the first to see the new money. By July 2018, banknotes are expected to be distributed throughout the Russian Federation.

Today, people who have fallen into the hands of a new banknote are curiously studying the design, shape, appearance, symbols depicted on the money. The new banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles look unusual in the photo - different colors, large print, new symbols and signs. But they gradually get used to everything and soon 200 and 2000 rubles. become commonplace in the wallets of our compatriots.

Banknote 200 rubles

Residents of regions where the new money has not yet entered circulation are curious about how the 200 ruble bill looks like. Advanced Internet users, although they did not hold new money in their hands, are already familiar with them in absentia.

A pleasant green color, an unusual font and a two-color design of the number and the name of the denomination of money immediately catches the eye. Also unusual are short strokes in three rows and a serial number applied vertically.

What is depicted on a banknote of 200 rubles

Symbols of Sevastopol were awarded to decorate banknotes of 200 rubles (according to the results of the All-Russian open competition). The front side depicts the Monument to the Scuttled Ships, built in 1905. This monument keeps the history of the defense of Sevastopol, when the fleet of ships was flooded to block the path of the enemy fleet and make the Sevastopol bay inaccessible. On the reverse side of the banknote there is an image of the famous Tauric Chersonese Museum-Reserve, which is the ruins of an ancient Greek city and is the largest archaeological center in the world.

Banknote 2000 rubles

2000 r. causes more interest in itself, since this is the second largest banknote, after 5000 rubles. Those who haven't seen it yet can see what the banknote of 2000 rubles looks like.

A pleasant background of mainly blue hues, a large font of the denomination numbers, a two-color design, and a vertical serial number have also become the object of increased attention. The image on the 2000 banknote of the bridge against the background of the sun has become a distinctive feature of the banknote - this is an optical protection against counterfeiting.

What is shown on the banknote: what city and bridge

After identifying the winners, whose symbols will decorate the new banknotes, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation reserved the right to choose what will be depicted on 200 and what on 2000 rubles. Based on the results of the meeting, the Board of Directors determined that the banknote of 2000 rubles will have the symbols of Vladivostok. On the front side of the 2000 ruble banknote, the Russian Bridge in Vladivostok is depicted, built in 2008 for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. The object became the second highest bridge in the world and is characterized as one of the unique and complex structures in the history of the world. The reverse side depicts the Vostochny Cosmodrome, located in the Amur Region, which became the first Russian civilian spaceport, which has already begun to function.

Why introduced banknotes with a new denomination

The Russians became alert and puzzled by the question why the Central Bank introduces new banknotes. Someone sees in this a political, economic or psychological plan, someone takes the innovation calmly. The reasons for the introduction of banknotes are explained simply and logically.

What are the new banknotes for?

  1. To simplify money transactions. The consumer basket in Russia has long gone up in price. Today, the minimum set of products and goods costs at least 200 rubles, so the need for 100 ruble bills is gradually disappearing. Wearing 6 bills of two hundred rubles is more convenient than 12 of one hundred rubles.
  2. Remove the load on the money printing press. Statistics have shown that over the past two years, 100 and 1000 ruble banknotes have been put into circulation most of all, which are in great demand. The issuance of new banknotes will reduce the wear and tear of existing ones. There is also an assumption that the denominations of 100 and 1000 will gradually be completely withdrawn from circulation. And if you look at the statistics for the last year, the popularity of the 5,000 ruble note has increased many times over. Therefore, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation hopes that 2000 will also fall in love with our compatriots.
  3. Reduce the cost of printing money. New banknotes are printed on thick paper with synthetic impregnation. This will extend the life of the banknotes and reduce wear and tear. Accordingly, money is saved on printing new banknotes. The availability of new banknotes will also affect the wear and tear of existing ones, they will be in circulation longer, which means they will be printed less often. Yes, and the denomination of new banknotes is greater, and the cost of printing money is the same. Therefore, as the academic director of Sberbank O. Shibanov said, 2000 rubles. printing is more economical than 1000 rubles.

How to determine the authenticity of new banknotes

New banknotes are protected from counterfeiting by modern technologies. However, at the initial stage of distribution, new money is often subject to fraud. The website of the Central Bank has full instructions on how to distinguish a fake piece of paper from a real bill. Enlisting a magnifying glass, an ultraviolet illuminator and patience, you can thoroughly check the money for various reasons. However, in the process of settlements in a store, this is difficult to do.

On the advice of the Central Bank, if in doubt, check the piece of paper for at least three signs.

How to check 200 rubles for authenticity:

  1. Look at the defensive line from an angle. If you move the paper, iridescent rectangles will move up and down on it.
  2. Look at the protective strip against the light. You will see a black bar on which the number 200 is repeated in a light font.
  3. Check by touch the inscription "Bank of Russia Ticket", the number 200 in the upper right corner and short strokes along the edges of the banknote. You will notice relief.

How to check 2000 rubles for authenticity:

  1. Look at the drawing of the bridge against the sun as a small icon. If you move the bill, a shiny ring appears that moves.
  2. On the security strip, when you turn the bill, you will notice the number 2000 moving on a dark background.
  3. When probing the inscription "Bank of Russia Ticket", the number 2000 and horizontal strokes, relief should be felt along the edges.

Important! On the front side of the banknotes there is a special QR code, by scanning which you can easily get to the website of the Central Bank and can learn all the ways to recognize a genuine banknote in order to easily distinguish it from a fake.

Checking banknotes through the application

Not everyone has the opportunity to verify the authenticity of banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles using special equipment, and by touch and translucence it is not always possible to distinguish a fake from the original. But there is always a way out, and in this case, an excellent alternative to the above methods of verification is a mobile application, which is called “Banknotes 2017”. The developer of this program for recognizing counterfeit banknotes was Gosznak.

Yes Not

The bridge leading to Russky Island in Vladivostok (on a banknote of 2 thousand rubles) becomes voluminous, and ships begin to move on the water. If you look at this banknote from the reverse side through the camera lens, then a 3D image of the launch complex and rocket will appear in place of the spaceport drawing. On the banknote of 200 rubles, using the application, you can see how birds fly, bells ring, drawings become voluminous.

Important! If, when checking banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles, the drawings of the symbols of cities do not “come to life”, this indicates that you have a fake in your hands.

The application also contains useful information about the security elements of these banknotes, after reading which you can then easily recognize where the bill is genuine and where the fake is. The application is designed specifically for Android and iOS platforms. You can install this program on any device running on one of these platforms, and it is available for download in the official content stores - AppStore and PlayMarket. It is enough to drive in the name “Banknotes 2017” in the search.

Humanity treats innovations with distrust and caution. Therefore, there have been cases when, when paying in a store, a buyer refuses to accept new money for payment.

Important! Refusal to accept banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles for payment is unlawful and punishable by a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles.

It is also important to understand that banknotes of 200 and 2000 are not an anniversary or commemorative edition, they are full-fledged money. Therefore, you should not buy them at a cost higher than the face value.

New banknotes of 200 rubles and 2,000 rubles have been put into circulation in Russia. They will go into mass circulation in December, the Bank of Russia said on Thursday.

How do they look?

Banknotes with a denomination of 200 rubles will be green. They contain the symbols of Sevastopol - a monument to the scuttled ships on the front side and a view of Tauric Chersonesos - on the back. The banknote is printed on cotton paper with polymer impregnation. As stated in a press release on the website of the Central Bank, this will ensure its high wear resistance and extend its life.

Banknotes of 2 thousand rubles will be blue. On the front side there is a bridge to Russky Island in the Far East, on the reverse side - the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region.

The symbols for the new banknotes were chosen during a competition in 2016. More than 5,000 applications were received, including 76 proposals with sights from 49 regions, according to a statement on the Central Bank's website.

The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, did not rule out that the design of banknotes could change over time, but "in the course of the planned modernization of banknotes." At a press conference in Moscow, she explained that such modernization is usually carried out once every five to seven years.

What to do with the Crimean symbols?

Sevastopol is located on the territory of the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014. At a press conference at TASS, the head of the Central Bank was forced to answer a question from a Japanese television journalist whether the presence of Crimean symbols would undermine confidence in the Russian currency.

"The ruble and the value of the ruble, respect for the ruble is determined by the state of the Russian economy, its growth, the power of the state, the presence of gold and foreign exchange reserves. The symbols were selected by the population of Russia ... This reflects the desire of people to see these symbols on official banknotes," Nabiullina said.

What is unusual about them?

On the front side of each banknote there is a QR code, reading which you can read on the website of the Bank of Russia about the decoration of banknotes and their protection.

True, this is not the first time that QR codes have been placed on Russian banknotes. For the first time, a QR code was placed on a commemorative banknote of 100 rubles. But they were released in a limited edition of 20 million copies.

It is interesting that one of the symbols of Vladivostok really got on the banknote of 2000 rubles. Last year, on the Internet at Change.org, it was even proposed to sign a petition to issue this banknote with views of this city.

"The collective unconscious offers us a combination that has long been on the surface -" Vladivostok 2000 ", once introduced by the Vladivostok group Mumiy Troll," the petition addressed to the Central Bank said. It was signed by 7.4 thousand people.

Why do we need new money?

The head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, spoke about the fact that new banknotes in denominations of 200 rubles and 2,000 rubles will appear in Russia back in the spring of 2016. Now in Russia the smallest denomination is 50 rubles, the largest is 5 thousand rubles.

The head of the Central Bank previously explained the need for issuing new banknotes by saying that this "will make it easier for citizens to pay for various goods and services." Now, as Nabiullina said today, the nominal series of banknotes in Russia can be considered complete.

The issuance of additional banknotes of 200 rubles and 2,000 rubles is considered economically justified with inflation of 4-6 percent, she added.

“In principle, such banknotes simplify money circulation: in Russia, almost 70% of transactions are still carried out in cash, so a smaller breakdown should have been introduced,” Oleg Shibanov, professor of finance at the Russian Economic School, told the BBC Russian Service.

"Plus, these banknotes are more durable - they are partially made of plastic, so they will be cheaper to use. In my opinion, banknotes fill the void between denominations. This is even mathematically justified, since the need for exchange and the number of banknotes in transactions will decrease," he added.

Earlier, the Republic wrote that the introduction of new denominations should reduce the wear and tear of small denominations and, consequently, the cost of printing them. The new banknotes will take over part of the load that now lies on hundreds and thousands - the most common banknotes in the general circulation.
